The Group of Eight (Go8) today formed a new partnership with the French Embassy in Canberra, providing access to internships in French companies for students of Go8 universities.
“The Go8 is delighted to be forming this partnership with the French Embassy. The MOU we are signing today supports a program of internships to promote cross-cultural understanding between France and Australia,” said Go8 Chair, Professor Alan Robson.
“The French Company Internship Program will provide Go8 students the opportunity to work in French business environments in Australia and France.
“Go8 universities will provide as much financial support as possible to students and have agreed to provide the maximum level of academic credit appropriate for the individual student’s program of study.
“Students will most likely need at least a basic knowledge of the French language in order to be awarded a place in the program.
“Universities must be able to offer students a truly internationalised program to ensure they are ready to compete in a global knowledge economy.
“Go8 students selected for this program will be internationalising their degree in the most powerful way, gaining business, language and in country experience all at the same time.
“The Go8 greatly appreciates the work of French Ambassador, Michel Filhol, and his staff at the Embassy in negotiating this agreement and we look forward to strengthening our ties in future,” Professor Robson concluded.
