The Minister for Education, Science and Training, the Hon Julie Bishop MP, today announced four new projects aimed at creating enduring education links between Australia and the European Union (EU).

The projects, jointly funded by the Australian Government and the European Commission through the fourth round of the EU - Australia Education Cooperation in Higher Education and Vocational Education and Training Projects, range from studies in international relations and security to developing environmental sustainability programmes.

“The EU - Australia Education Cooperation in Higher Education and Vocational Education and Training Projects will create greater understanding and interaction between education institutions and students in both Australia and the EU,” said Minister Bishop.

“Twelve Australian universities and fourteen European universities will participate in the Programme, enabling more than 160 Australian undergraduates the opportunity to study in Europe for a semester.

“This will not only broaden our base for academic cooperation with the EU, but it will also help to raise the international profile of Australian education.”

The Australian Government and the European Commission have each committed $1.7 million (AUD) to the fourth round of the programme.
