FEAST Conference 2006: Research without borders

Location: Shine Dome, Australian Academy of Science, Canberra, Australia
Dates: 28–29 November 2006

Building on the outstanding success of previous FEAST conferences, the coming conference will engage even more strongly with the different research communities in Australia — linking Science, Humanities and the Social Sciences. The program will bolster bilateral relationships and kick off the engagement of Australian researchers in the Seventh Framework Programme (FP7). National issues will be addressed in the search for practical solutions. Speakers and delegates from Europe and Australia will ensure that Research Without Borders creates science-policy dialogue of significance.

The competition we face internationally imposes an imperative upon us to press on to further strengthen our international science collaborations.
The Hon Julie Bishop MP, Australian Minister for Education, Science and Training.

We are working to implement a Research Framework Programme that is open to the whole world, for our mutual benefit. Quite naturally and logically the cooperation with countries that are not part of the European Union is vital for a better integration of Europe as a whole.
Janez Potočnik, European Commissioner for Science and Research.

Europe’s and Australia’s close relationship is founded on a rich history of partnership and achievement. We must now turn our attention to what more we can achieve together in an era littered with challenges, but full of opportunities.
The Hon Alexander Downer MP, Australian Minister for Foreign Affairs.
