This workshop will be of interest to you if you answer ‘yes’ to any or all of the following questions:

  • Do you have colleagues in Europe with whom you would like to spend quality, face-to-face research time with?
  • Have you ever considered taking part in an EU Framework Programme project but you don’t know how to?
  • Do you have early-career researchers in your team who would like to spend some research time in Europe? And/or PhD students who would benefit from international collaboration?
  • Have you been approached by European early career researchers that would like to spend time with your research group in Australia, but you don’t know how to get them here?
  • Would you like to know more about European research networks and activities in your field of expertise, and how you can participate in them?

Topics to be covered:

  • Recent developments and key priorities in the European research landscape
  • The EU Framework Programmes
  • International S&T mechanisms outside the Framework Programmes
  • COST – European Cooperation in the Field of Science and Technical Research
  • Sources of funding from Australian funding agencies (ARC, Go8, DIISR, National Academy of Science)

The workshop will also include some feedback, insight and advice from ANU academics who have experience with the various mechanisms available for research collaboration with European colleagues.
