description

The Forum for European-Australian Science and Technology Cooperation (commonly known as “FEAST”) is an organisation established by the Australian Government and the European Union to highlight, promote, and facilitate research collaboration between their respective communities.

FEAST will hold an InfoDay on USyd campus to increase European-Australian cooperation. Targeted workshops and seminars will:

  • describe the current state of collaborative activity;
  • identify the major opportunities for collaboration;
  • discuss financial support for collaborative research;
  • highlight some successful outcomes and the resulting best practices.

There will be three separate workshops:

  • Social Sciences/Humanities and European opportunities (10–11am)
  • Agricultural sciences & bio-economy, BIO CIRCLE and European opportunities (11:30am–12:30pm)
  • Early Career Researchers — training and career development opportunities in Europe (2–3pm)

RSVP is essential as numbers will be limited to ensure there is time for questions and to work on case studies. Deadline for RSVP: Friday 21 August. RSVP: Sandra Margon, International Development Manager, Europe: s.margon@usyd.edu.au or 02 9351 8994.

The BIO CIRCLE project brings together research communities from all over the world, with the aim to stimulate international cooperation under the 7th Framework Programme in the theme “Food, Agriculture and Fisheries and Biotechnology”, also referred to as the “bio-economy” theme. The term “bio-economy” includes all industries and economic sectors that produce, manage and otherwise exploit biological resources e.g. agriculture, food, forestry, fisheries and other bio-based industries.
