Australian-European Union Health Research Grants

Projects involving Australian researchers based in Australia that are chosen for funding from the European Commission, may be eligible for NHMRC support. The following issues will be considered when assessing eligible projects:

  • Value and quality of the Australian contribution to the European research;
  • Value added to Australian research from our participation;
  • The need for funding; and
  • Relevance of the project to Australia’s National Research Priorities.

The total NHMRC funds available under each call is $1 million.

Responsibility for submitting proposals under the Framework Programme lies with the European partners. Australian researchers participating in projects being submitted to the European Commission must notify the NHMRC and forward a copy of the final application submitted to the European Commission two weeks after the European Commission closing date.

Application forms and NHMRC guidelines and policies are available from www.nhmrc.gov.au/grants/types/granttype/strategic/austeu.htm.
