Heart Research UK will consider grant applications whose focus is upon laboratory-based research. The principal aim of most applications is to increase understanding of the fundamental mechanisms of cardiovascular disease with a view to designing and developing new treatments that can ultimately be evaluated in patients with cardiovascular diseases. The insights gained from such projects help to inform the design of clinical studies in patients with cardiovascular disease.
There are now two types of basic science grant available:
- PhD Studentships
- Basic Science Project Grants
PhD Studentships provide £14,500 per annum stipend and £5,000 per annum bench fees for each of the three years of the grant.
Basic Science Project Grants are available for up to £85,000.
