Following the success of the Award in 2008, the ARIA-Canberra Association will offer two Awards in 2009.
The Award has the financial support of the Chief Minister’s Department of the ACT Government and the Australian Academy of Science, and of FEAST (Forum for European-Australian Science and Technology cooperation). It is endorsed by the Scientific Office of the Embassy of Italy in Canberra, and PIAR (Publications for Italian and Australian Researchers).
The ARIA-Canberra Award for Research Collaboration is aimed at recognizing excellence in cooperation between research centres in Italy and in the ACT and to foster further research activity.
Proposals in any field of natural science, basic and applied, including mathematics and engineering, will be considered.

The application is open to researchers at any level, but preference will be given to early career researchers, including PhD students.
In 2009, each of the two Awards will provide AU$4,000 towards the visit of a researchers to the counterpart Italian or Australian institution. The sponsored research visits will have to be carried out by 31 December 2009 and should have a minimum duration of 4 weeks.
