description

The ESRC is launching a new £3 million initiative exclusively aimed at building research capacity in applied macroeconomics. The initiative aims to recruit new graduates and talented professionals from the financial sector and elsewhere into an academic research career. Although the UK has a world class research base in economics, there is a need to strengthen research capacity in certain areas, particularly evidence-based, policy-relevant and decision-focused macroeconomics and finance research.

As part of the initiative, the ESRC is offering postdoctoral fellowships in applied macroeconomics under a highlight notice for their Postdoctoral Fellowship scheme.

Applicants should have no more than three years’ active postdoctoral experience when they take up the award.

Up to 10 fellowships in applied macroeconomics are available. Awards are tenable for one year on a full-time basis (two years in economics) and up to two years on a part-time basis (four years in economics).
