description

The Finnish Cultural Foundation awards grants for promoting and developing culture and economy in Finland. In accordance with this task the foundation makes personal grants to individuals and groups

  • for postgraduate and postdoctoral studies in the sciences and arts,
  • for artistic work, and
  • for any other work promoting culture in Finland.

Although grants are mainly awarded to Finnish scientists and artists, foreigners may submit an application for postgraduate and postdoctoral studies at Finnish universities, preferably in the fields relating to Finnish culture, language, literature, or history as well as for different fields of the arts (music, fine arts, etc.).

The foundation will not award grants for work that has already been completed; printing costs; undergraduate studies; BBA and MBA studies; hobbies; or carrying on a business.

Finnish postgraduate students and postdocs are invited to apply for grants.

Applicants from outside Finland will also be considered. An eligible foreign applicant should

  • be a holder of the MA degree or the equivalent,
  • have a certificate of the right to study at a Finnish university, or
  • have a membership in a research group at a Finnish university or a research institute.
