The Beef CRC was established in 1993 to undertake large scale investigations to identify the major genetic and non-genetic factors influencing beef quality. This research underpins Australia’s position of World’s No. 1 Beef trader and has helped expand the beef sectors’ annual value to more than $9 billion. The CRC was refunded for a second 7 year term in 1999 and is currently an applicant for a third term of 7 years to commence in July 2005.
