Biteam AB is a small Swedish R&D company dedicated to developing a completely new class of weaving technologies for high-performance technical applications and commercialising them. It was founded in 1997, mainly by entrepreneurs Fredrik Winberg and Nandan Khokar and a group of private investors, motivated by the development of a few path breaking weaving technologies and the fast expanding markets for high-performance technical textile materials. Biteam’s business concept is to license / sell technological innovations to progressive, resourceful and entrepreneurial companies.
The two 3D-weaving processes developed at Biteam, Dual-Directional Weaving Standard and Dual-Directional Weaving Spatial, are confirmed to be unlike any method developed in 5000 years of weaving history. These new processes and materials are particularly suitable for applications like composite materials and ballistics, among others, and not for clothing / furnishing. Biteam’s 3D-weaving technologies are now recognised by industrial and academic textile experts. The 3D-weaving process Dual-Directional Weaving Standard has been selected recently for a project that aims to produce a variety of woven modular joints for aircraft manufacture.
