summary:
The goal of the project IMS Rapid Product Development 2001 is to accelerate product development processes for mechanical parts by providing tools and methods for rapid manufacturing of virtual, physical and hybrid parts. The project will comprise the realisation of a substantially improved process chain starting with physical or digital product models and leading to validated physical, virtual and hybrid parts in small or medium sized series. This will be realised by developing innovative CAD-based tooling software, rapid tooling technologies and formation of a Rapid Virtual Enterprise. Depending on the target industry a cost and lead time reduction up to 30% is expected.
