The project aims to create IT infrastructures and related tools to support globally distributed and dynamically networked operations in one-of-a-kind industries. By combining the views and requirements of various industries GLOBEMEN aims to guide and encourage the industry and IT vendors to develop and adopt improved IT infrastructures. The project aims to demonstrate functionalities that offer attractive market opportunities to IT vendors for product development to satisfy the needs of various industries world wide.
The measurable and tangible objectives of GLOBEMEN project are to:
(1) define industrial requirements and
(2) compliant architectures for globally distributed product life cycle management, customer support, project and manufacturing management in the virtual enterprise,
(3) implement proof of concept industrial prototypes,
(4) demonstrate core features of the architecture, and
(5) promote deployment by IT vendors, manufacturing industry, academia and standardisation.
The main focus of GLOBEMEN is inter-enterprise integration and collaboration in a global setting. The project will develop generic approaches and models for global inter-enterprise networking and it will also demonstrate some of the key issues (possible bottle necks) in real industrial cases.
