Further information

summary:

This Fellowship allows the researcher to enhance his international academic training by working at the School of Management at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), a leader among business schools in Australia, with the reintegration phase at the Centre for the Management of Environmental Resources (CMER) at INSEAD in Fontainebleau, France. INSEAD is widely recognized as one of the largest and most influential business schools in the world. CMER is a specialized academic centre, which conducts research on the interface between organizations and the natural environment. The characterization of scenarios favouring and/or hindering the profitability of environmental investments, as well as the possibility to become sources of competitive advantage cover the main research agenda of the Fellowship.

The project will analyse empirical cases from the European and Australian contexts, which aim to answer the following research question:

“Why environmental initiatives developed by European and Australian firms resulted in economic and/or market success or failure?”

The training objectives of the proposal cover the three main areas of academic scholarship - research, education and publishing - as well as the additional objective of dissemination of scientific knowledge to civil society. Hence the Fellowship should significantly enhance the scholar’s analytical skills for research, as well as the translation of research results into academic papers and educational material, which can be used in both academic and practitioner contexts. The research encompassed by the Fellowship clearly defines the variables involved in the 'pays to be green' research area - as it has been popularised. For this reason, it represents an enormous contribution to the formation of the core research agenda of the emerging multi-disciplinary filed of strategic environmental management (SEM) - which combines the traditional areas of strategic management and environmental management.
